Cartagen and Investigen Expand
Strategic Partnership
SEATTLE, WA - June 17, 2005 - Cartagen
Molecular Systems, Inc. announced today
that it has expanded its strategic partnership
with Investigen, Inc. (Hercules, CA).
The new relationship will provide scientists
with broader access to Investigen’s
proprietary DNA extraction technology
and incorporate the BioMasher®, patented
technology developed by Nippi, Inc. (Tokyo,
Japan). Cartagen is the exclusive distributor
of the BioMasher in the United States
and Canada and has worldwide rights to
incorporate the BioMasher
into Cartagen’s existing and future
molecular biology kits. As part of the
expanded partnership with Investigen,
Cartagen has entered into a revised licensing
agreement allowing Cartagen to sell into
territories that were previously excluded
from the original agreement. Now scientists
worldwide have access to Cartagen’s
full range of products.
“We’re excited about expanding
our relationship with Investigen,”
commented Steven Kirsher, President and
CEO of Cartagen. “Investigen scientists
have helped us quickly develop the Rapid
Homogenization Kits centered around the
BioMasher technology. Customers using
the Rapid Homogenization Kits are excited
and have come to us with requests to expand
the technology into their specific areas
of research. We have already responded
with kits
specific to the plant and entomology markets.
Investigen’s expertise in sample
preparation and handling will allow Cartagen
to continue to respond to customer needs
with innovative solutions.”
“Cartagen has built a solid reputation
with life science researchers which is
apparent in the company’s many satisfied
customers,” said Dr. Heather Koshinsky,
CEO of Investigen. “Cartagen has
developed
close relationships with key researchers
which provide a critical window into the
current needs of the market. Cartagen’s
ability to quickly recognize the potential
of the BioMasher led to the development
of unique products to solve key unmet
needs.”
The partnership between Cartagen and
Investigen will ensure an ongoing flow
of innovative products and helpful tools
for life science researchers worldwide.
